A Pair of Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.
The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
