Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
