Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report
Local Police
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior official stated the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
